We'd just like to let all families, friends and supporters of TCCL know that the Teddy Bear's Picnic, which was scheduled for Sunday 20th May, has unfortunately had to be cancelled.

We will be back in touch soon about more TCCL events taking place in the coming months.

St Andrews Students continued support of TCCL

The St Andrews oktoberfest committee have just been accross to Ward 29, to present us with a cheque for £13,500 from their 2012 oktoberfest event. With their agreement, £10,000 is going towards the lodge fund and £3,500 will be going to the annual work that TCCL does.

This is the third year that they have supported us. In 2010 they raised £11,000 for TCCL and in 2011 they raised £17,000 for TCCL. So in the past 3 years they have raised £41,500.

In 2010 we used the money to refurbish 2 treatment rooms in the hospital. In both 2011 and 2012 we have set aside £10,000 each year for the lodge with the remainder being used by the main charity.

We are extremely grateful to them for their continued support over the past 3 years. They are a great bunch of people.

Charity Concert

A fantastic Concert is being held to raise funds for TCCL. It is being held in the Garndyne Theatre in Dundee on Sat 26th May commencing at 19:30.

Tickets will be priced at £10. Tickets are now on sale. They can be purchased via the Garndyne Theatre Box Office, or the Box Office in City Square Dundee. Click on poster thumbnail image for full size image.

Citizen of Year 2012

Charlie Kean was installed as Dundee's Citizen of the Year for 2012 at a civic reception held in the City Chambers on the evening of Wed 7th March.

Charlie is a tireless worker, seeking to brighten the lives of underprivilged and sick kids throughout the city. This task he has done for many years now.

A prominent local businessman, he still finds a vast amount of time to devote to many charitable endeavors. He runs Keans Childrens Fund in Dundee and is also a positive supporter of TCCL, having recently become a director of the TCCL Lodge company, and is helping us to drive forward our plans to progress the TCCL Lodge project.

He is a worthy winner of this accolade, and we wish him every success for the future.

T Dancers Support TCCL

Bob Robertson was invited along to the Black Watch Tea Dance on Tuesday 28th Feb.

The dance is run by Rose Redford and Andy Parker.. Andy plays the music and Rose does the catering. They donated the money (£500) on behalf of all theTea dancers, and this time they chose TCCL.

We would like to thank them all for their support.

Ardler Neighbourhood Centre supports TCCL

During Dec 2011, the Ardler Neighbourhood centre, ran a number of Christmas Parties and also a Santa's Grotto. The monies raised from these events was given to Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia.

On 22nd Feb Gaye Steel from TCCL went along to receive a cheque for £911 from representatives of the Ardler Neighbourhood centre (See Photo). Gaye is Front Right, and Santa who made an out of season appearance is fairly obvious......

Canongates Pyjama Day

The attached photo shows children of nursery and Primary 1 at Canongate Primary School during our Pyjama day that we held on the 17th November 2011.

The children of nursery and Primary 1 at Canongate Primary School raised approx £200 by coming to nusery/school dressed in pyjama and took part in pyjama themed activities.

All the children and staff had lots of fun taking part in this day. The Day was organised by Miss Julie Clubb Early years Officer and Mrs Fraser Primary 1 teacher with lots and lots of help from Bob Robertson, who is a TCCL committee member.

M&S Dundee Fundraiser for TCCL

Staff of Marks and Spencer, Murraygate, Dundee are holding a fundraiser for TCCL, called Jolly January. The event, held in Broughty Ferry, on 21st January is £10 a ticket, with all profits going to TCCL.

David�s Ultra Challenge Pays Off for TCCL

David Jorgensen took part in the 6633 Ultra Challenge during March 2011, which essentially involved traversing the route used by the ice road truckers, but pulling a sledge with all your provisions on board.

In doing so he raised £1000 for TCCL, and he came along on Mon 9^th January to Maggies Centre to present the committee with the cheques and cash that he had collected.

In 2012, he is looking to compete in the Gobi challenge, which again he hopes to raise money for TCCL by doing so.

Dundee Council IT Staff spread some Christmas Cheer

The IT Support Staff of Dundee City Council, who are based in Downfield House in Strathmartine Road do not send each other Christmas cards each year. Instead they sign a communal card and made a donation to a local charity.

This year they chose Tayside Children with Cancer & Leukaemia as the beneficiary of their efforts, and on Mon 9^th January Martin Kerr from the IT Department came along to the Maggies Centre in Dundee to present the £127 that they had collected to the TCCL committee.

Burns Supper Tickets Now on Sale!

The event takes place on Saturday 21st Janury 2012, from 7pm onwards at Chamber East, Panmure Street, Dundee. It's a beautiful Grade A listed building, with a fab atmosphere!

Full details to be announced soon, but tickets will be available for £20 per person. This will include a 3 course meal with coffee and dancing to a top notch ceilidh band. The venue has a fully licenced bar.

Library holds Cup Cake Event for TCCL

A Cup Cake Day was held in the staff room of Central Library to raise funds for TCCL on Mon 28th Nov. Lynne Prophet kindly put her baking skills to good use to provide an amazing selection of cup cakes on sale.

Lynne is the sister of Library and Information Worker, Kerry Payne, and was inspired to make the cup cakes after reading the recent appeal in the Evening Telegraph featuring Finn.

The Library staff were most keen to support Lynne's efforts and snapped all the cakes in record time. Flavours included Chocolate Orange, Toffee Apple and Pear and Ginger and most had disappeared by the end of morning tea-break!

Even Finn was keen to get in on the act and I have attached a photo of him enjoying the last of the spoils. The day raised £146 and is something the staff would recommend other workplaces get involved in as it is a really enjoyable way to raise money.

Wormit Brownies "Clean Up" for TCCL

24 Brownies from the 2^nd Wormit Troop spent a full week doing all sorts of chores around the house, like washing up, cleaning rooms and looking after pets in order to raise money for Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia. Their efforts raised a magnificent £381.45 for their chosen charity.

The idea came from Molly Millander (9) and Tess Lynn (10). Molly’s younger brother Finn is being treated for Leukaemia at Ninewells, and the family have been supported by TCCL in the past.

The Brownies invited John Walker, the chairman of TCCL, to their meeting on Tues 22^nd Nov to present him with the cheque.

One of the brownies, Caitlyn Rice, said “We all enjoyed doing our bit to raise the money for charity. We know that they will make good use of it”.

John Walker thanked all the brownies and Leaders for their support before accepting the cheque on behalf of the charity.

Glendoick Garden Centre Fund Raiser

Glendoick Garden Centre have very kindly agreed to have TCCL as their nominated charity at their Grand Opening of their New Extension on the 12th and 13th November

Halloween Party 2011

TCCL held its annual Halloween party at Jumping Joey's in Arbroath on Sun 30th October from 5 - 7pm.

The kids who attended had a fantastic time in the play area, with games organised by the Witches of Jumping Joey's.

After a superb tea, the staff judged the best costume of the kids. The best Boy was "Spiderman" and the best Girl was "Vampira".

Photo shows TCCL Chairman John Walker in his "Grim Reaper" costume with all the contest entrants.

It was a great time for both the kids and the parents, who got involved in all the fun.

We would like to thank Jumping Joey's and their staff for hosting us for the 4th consequetive year. Your support is greatly appreciated.
