Posties raise Cash for Tash

3 Royal mail employees at the Dundee Central Sorting office grew moustaches as a sponsored event during Dec 2009, and decided to donate the money raised to TCCL.

The three are Scott Robertson, Darren Moore and Rickey Turner.  They got the idea from the November campaign run by the scottish newspapers  for cancer charity where they encouraged people to grow a moustache to help raise money and awareness for men's health issues.

The 3 intrepid staff raised £290 from their cash for tash campaign and via the Royal Mail match program, they qualified for a further £200 from their employers scheme.

Cash for Tash PresentationSo on Wed 11 March, Darren Moore and Ricky Turner came along to Ward 29 at Ninewells to present the charity with the £490 that they raised.    Scott Robertson was unable to attend as he had a cold and did not want to bring this into the hospital.  Before handing over the cheques, Darren and Ricky were given a tour of the childrens hospital and saw at first hand the work that TCCL had undertaken over the years.

They were escorted on their tour by Gaye Steel who is an oncology nurse in Ward 29 and also a member of the TCCL committee.   John Walker, the chairman of TCCL was alo there for the presentation, and said "We are extrememly grateful for all the assistance that people give us, and we are delighted to accept the proceeds of the three Royal Mail 'Three Moustacheers' fundraising efforts.   It will be put to good use".
