Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia

St Andrews Oktoberfest 2010

On Wednesday 26^thMay, members of the St Andrews University Oktoberfest Committee came to the TCCL committee meeting to present them with a cheque for £11,000. The St Andrews Oktoberfest is an annual event held during March and 2010 saw it reach its 4^thyear.

The Oktoberfest committee always look to give the proceeds to Charity and this year they were looking for a local charity in order to support and towards the end of 2009, Max Dubiel who chairs the Oktoberfest committee, contacted TCCL to see if we would be interested.

Following a tour of the ward at Ninewells and seeing at first hand the work of TCCL, we were formally adopted as their chosen charity and we are very grateful to them for their superb fundraising effort. The event this year was well supported and Max Meyer Dubiel, Felix Von Abercron, Lena Maechel and Lillian Schiffer from the committee came over with the cheque.

We plan to use this money to help re-furnish the day surgery areas with child friendly furniture and medical equipment.

TCCL chairman, John Walker, accepted the cheque from the Oktoberfest Committee whilst the other TCCL committee looked on.
