WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON YOUR SPECIAL DAY?

Let us organise it for you…

A debilitating illness can drain your spirits as well as your body.  But for someone with a life- threatening illness, every day deserves to be treated as precious.

The Willow Foundation is a unique charity that organises and funds very special, morale-boosting and memorable days for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds.  The Foundation provides more than 100 special days every month for individuals and their family and friends.

Hot Air BallooningThe charity defines seriously ill as any condition that is life- threatening, including cancer.  All applications must meet the Foundation’s medical criteria and be endorsed by a medical professional involved in the individual’s care.

The Foundation strives to create a unique and unforgettable day that is tailored to the needs and dreams of every recipient.  Some of the most popular special day requests have included tickets to West End shows, pop concerts and sporting events, city breaks, days at health spas, driving performance cars or even sky diving!

How to apply

While each application will be assessed on its own merit, to qualify for a special day you must be aged between 16 and 40 (inclusive), must live in the UK and meet at least one of the following criteria:

1. Life- threatening condition (active treatment, palliative care or terminal prognosis)

2. Advanced stages of progressive life- threatening conditions:

    * muscle wasting diseases
    * diseases of the nervous system
    * auto-immune disorders
    * neurological conditions
    * chronic organ-specific conditions

JosieIn exceptional circumstances applications from young adults may be considered within a short time of intensive and debilitating treatment for a life- threatening illness

HOW TO APPLY FOR A SPECIAL DAY

To apply for a special day, you will need to fill out a special day application form.  You can get a copy of the form and the charity’s application guidelines by calling the Willow Foundation on 01707 259777 or from the charity’s website: www.willowfoundation.org.uk/SpecialDays
