A charity is appealing for help in finding a suitable location in Tayside for a planned holiday home for children with cancer.

Tayside Children with Cancer and Leukaemia (TCCL) is running a £500,000 campaign to build and run the centre, with the aim of giving families a break.

Now its volunteers are hoping the public can help them find a property or a piece of land they could use, especially if it was possible to have this donated to them rather than having to be paid for.

Committee member Gaye Steel said, "Even when we can give families money to go away on holiday, most don't want to leave their homes as they want to be within reach of the local hospital.

"The most common cancer for children is leukaemia and treatment for that can take up to three years so some families deny themselves a holiday for three years.

"A holiday home would give the families important quality time together where they could relax and have fun.

"We are looking for something that is not too far out of the way, as not everybody can drive, so access to walk to a bus stop would be best.

"We would be grateful for any help anyone could give us. It would mean a lot to the families and the patients in Tayside."

Anyone who can help should contact the charity on or call Gaye on 07740 937100.
